Using the body as a site of work is a method often employed by marginalized groups: it insists on speaking while refusing to be disciplined or explained by dominant languages. This video documents the process of tattooing the image of a sanitary pad onto my chest. The image covers and adorns the red scar on my body, transforming private pain into a visible trace.
The tattoo emerged through an experience of pain I had to endure. It is both a memento of confronting my own difference and an active act of marking. Through it, I reclaim bodily experiences that have been concealed, shamed, or medicalized, and declare a feminist position. My body is no longer merely an object to be gazed at, diagnosed, or interpreted; it becomes a site of action, inscription, and resistance.
